Getting to know customers and building relationships with them is one of the absolute best parts of being a tattoo artist. So here's a little bit about Ricky and his time in the industry!

Ricky started his tattoo journey when he was introduced to the craft by his older brother at 14 years old. By 18, Ricky had built a portfolio of his own art work - drawings and paintings - securing him an apprenticeship in his home city of Coventry, West Midlands. He spent the following two years serving his apprenticeship and a year as a junior artist. After working within a couple of different studios to further his skills - working under artists of different styles; Ricky opened his own studio in Coventry in 2013, which he ran successfully for 6 years.

Several successful years later, a now internationally published tattoo artist, Ricky relocated to the historic city of Carlisle, Cumbria. Working along side world class artists, Ricky has been able to hone his craft, continuously working on learning and perfecting his skill as a tattoo artist.

In October of 2024, Ricky opened a private studio with his co owner @jessharrisart in Carlisle city centre with stunning views of Carlisle Cathedral. Here, Ricky has continued pushing to provide a premium service with high quality, bespoke tattoos that his customers are proud to wear.

Although Ricky specializes in realism, he is competent in many styles of tattooing and enjoys working with his customers to create tattoos of different genres that exceed expectations.

Rickys favorite style to work with is Opaque black and grey; recently finding his love for this genre from artists like Thomas Carli Jarlier and Mirco Ponti. His new passion for this genre of black and grey bagged him two awards at Tattoo Freeze, Telford, Walking away with Best Realism and Best of Sunday.

Ricky works by building relationships with his clients, taking the time to understand their ideas while blending in his own style, keeping them involved throughout the process by sharing the progress and making adjustments based on their feedback. Doing several seminars a year to keep pushing his abilities, Ricky is ,above all, driven by a constant desire to improve, and a genuine passion for the art, the craft and tattoo culture.

The pricing of a tattoo can very dependent on a multitude of factors for example, size, technical detail, and your skins ability to take the ink. For a slightly more clear estimate, please fill out the booking form!

CAN YOU DESIGN A CUSTOM TATTOO FROM MY IDEAS?

Absolutely! There's many different ways to help explain to me your ideas. I work on a completely custom basis, meaning whatever you bring to me, I will be redesigning to make it a custom, one off piece.

CAN I SEND YOU MY IDEAS IVE CREATED WITH AI?

I love seeing your ideas regardless of how you relay them to me. AI can be a very useful tool to help get an idea out of your head onto the page. That being said, not everything AI creates will translate as well onto skin so please be aware of that. As stated, i do work completely custom and will make whatever changes necessary to create the best tattoo possible.
